Under the slogan ‘Think Blue: Make every drop count’, the following activities were initiated:
Successful completion of NMHS action research project in two watersheds, namely; Khrimtomi watershed in Zunheboto district and Chizami watershed in Phek district. Through the project, water security plans have been developed for the 2 watersheds.
Successful completion of Multi-stakeholders’ initiatives on springshed management in 100 villages in convergence with MGNREGA and NEIDA. Through the project, 105 natural springs have been rejuvenated through social, biological and engineering measures and brought about water security to 95 villages in the state.
Inventorization of 336 natural springs covering 159 micro-watershed are underway to analyze physical and bio-chemical parameters of the springs in technical partnership with Geology and Chemistry departments, Kohima Science College.
SLNA Nagaland is one of the few resource Agencies in the country which has contributed materials on Springshed management to DoLR and supported NITI Aayog in publication of “Resource book on Springshed Management in the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR)”. The Resource Book was released in New Delhi on December 6, 2021.
