The State Level Nodal Agency (SLNA) is a dedicated cell of the Department of Land Resources, Nagaland for implementation of PMKSY-WDC in the state. It has successfully completed implementation of the remaining 2 batches, viz. batches V & VI during the year, treating an area of 1,32,800 Ha. covering 33 projects. Required closure protocols for all batches of PMKSY-WDC 1.0 have been completed and documents submitted to the Ministry, officially closing the projects.
PMKSY-WDC 2.0 is the new generation watershed programme of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. The programme was launched by Government of India during the 3rd quarter of FY 2021-22. The Department of Land Resources, Government of India has allocated 20,000 Ha. area for treatment of degraded lands in the state. The project aims at ensuring ecological integrity of the watershed while providing sustainable and equitable economic activities to the communities residing in the watershed areas. Achieving some of the key UN Sustainable Development Goals viz. SDG 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 13 and 15 through new generation Watershed project is clearly enshrined in the guidelines of PMKSY-WDC 2.0.

The new generation watershed programme will have a total of 5 (five) projects; one each in Tuensang, Noklak, Kiphire, Phek and Peren districts. SLNA is currently in the process of preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs). Natural Resources Management (NRM) activities starts during 2022-23.
